KENYA LOGISTICS COMPANY "SENDY" EXPANDS, NOW DELIVERS TO LONG DISTANCES

This is mainly for our readers from kenya, Logistics startup, Sendy, has added long-distance trucks to its fleet following the launch of its door-to-door delivery services in Mombasa. Great news!

The Mombasa launch is the last piece of the puzzle in Sendy’s drive to operate all across Kenya and will include trucks, motorcycles and tuk tuks. To top it all off, Sendy is offering its users discounts on all deliveries in November.

With Sendy, customers with parcels that need to be delivered are connected with individuals, taxi and bike riders and now truck drivers willing to deliver those parcels. All this is done via a mobile app and Sendy holds funds in an escrow account until the transaction is completed.

Don Okoth, Sendy’s expansion manager says, “Not only are we bringing a simple and transparent delivery platform to Mombasa to help make delivering packages inside Mombasa much easier, we’ve also connected Mombasa with Nairobi and Kisumu, offering overnight, door-to-door deliveries city-2-city. Now you can send anything from a small envelope to several tonnes of cement door-to-door, Mombasa to Nairobi. All directly from an app on your phone.”

Sendy launched in 2014 and has since then recorded significant progress in the logistics space. In November 2015, they raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from Safaricom’s Spark Fund. They also tested drone delivery in April 2016 and launched an on-demand taxi and boda boda hailing service in Nairobi in July 2016. This new addition to its fleet and expansion to Mombasa will surely solidify Sendy’s place as a leading contender in Kenya’s logistics market. Winning.
