SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 2016 REVIEW

Hello all, today we will be reviewing one of the greatest phones Samsung Mobile has ever made; the Samsung Galaxy S7. In this review we will show you some of the key features of the Samsung Galaxy S7, why we regard it as one of Samsung Mobile all time greats, its price and availability here in Nigeria and also some of its downsides.

GADGET REVIEW

After the release of the Samsung Galaxy S6, we thought we had received the very best mobile phone from Samsung Mobile, little did we know that they were gearing up for something even bigger. Already, tech pundits and bloggers are comparing the Samsung Galaxy S7 with the yet to be released iPhone 7, they believe this Samsung Galaxy S7 has got what it takes to rival the upcoming iPhone 7.

If you have been following my reviews so far you will notice that I teased Samsung Mobile for making a slow phone in Samsung Galaxy J1 (with 512MB RAM), well, Samsung Mobile has surprised me this time. The Samsung Galaxy S7 has an unbelievable RAM of 4GIGABYTES! In fact, when I first read about the specifications I was amazed, I never saw this coming from Samsung Mobile.

By now I'm sure you all know how crazy I am when it comes to speed, in my infinix zero 3 review, I regarded the infinix zero 3 as a monster because of its 3GB RAM, now what do I call the Samsung Galaxy S7 that has a RAM of 4GB? A beast! Lol!
Please pardon my choice of vocabulary, the Samsung Galaxy S7 really got me excited.
Unlike other Samsung Galaxy phones that have a long booting on time, the Samsung Galaxy S7 takes about 23 seconds to power on and about 5 seconds to power off.

On the physical characteristics, the Samsung Galaxy S7 weighs 152g which is quite heavy when compared to other brands, and it has a 5.1 inches QHD super Amoled screen which makes it handy and easy to grip. Although I would loved it to be a 5.5 inch because of my love for games and TV series device but hey I can't have it all. The screen of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is made up of a corning gorilla glass, making it very tough and resistant to scratch. The Samsung Galaxy comes in 3 colors, gold, silver and black.

Another feature that got me thrilled is the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S7 is dustproof and waterproof, all thanks to its IP68 certification. What this means is that the Samsung Galaxy S7 can withstand water depths of about 1.5m for up to 30 minutes! Now that's really cool. So you have no worries if you decide to take your S7 into the bathroom and play some good music while you take bath, or when you visit the swimming pool.

Camera wise, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has a primary (rear) camera of 12 megapixels while the secondary (front) camera is 5 megapixels. So if you love taking selfies like I do then you are covered. The quality is extra perfect, meaning you can take photos in almost any condition be it a sunny day or humid day, it is also excellent for indoor photos because of its LED flash lights.

For those who are passionate about playing games on their mobile then you will absolutely love the Samsung Galaxy S7, its 4GB RAM and 8 cores ( with 4 cores running at a speed of 2.6GHz & the other 4 cores running at 1.59GHz, paired with a Mali 7880 GPU), you are guaranteed a smooth running gameplay without fears of freezing or hanging. Another cool feature for gamers is that you can multitask while playing your favorite games, take screenshots of stages and also record live footage of scenes or goal highlights from games.

Like with other Samsung Galaxy series, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has got a fingerprint feature that is a lot faster (less than a second to unlock your phone) than the rest. Another interesting feature is that the Samsung Galaxy S7 charges pretty fast, it approximately takes about an hour to charge full. This brings us to the battery life, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has a 3000mAh battery which is very impressive considering the fact that the previous series Samsung Galaxy S6 had a 2550mAh battery. So this means that the Samsung Galaxy S7 can go a whole day without charging.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a storage capacity of 32/64GB and can be expanded to a whooping 200GB as opposed the regular 128GB of other series. Also, the Samsung Galaxy S7 runs on the latest operating system, Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The price of the Samsung Galaxy S7 in the Nigerian market varies from between N195,000 to N235,000. You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy S7 on JUMIA or Konga.

DOWNSIDES

One thing that really surprised me is that the Samsung Galaxy S7 is not a dual Sim phone. I wonder why Samsung Mobile decided not to make it a dual Sim phone even in this modern era.

Another shocking observation is that the Samsung Galaxy S7 do not have a default music player. You will have to make use of the google play music as the alternative.

Lastly, I noticed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 fingerprint feature is not very accurate. Sometimes you have to try severally before it accepts and it doesn't recognize fingerprints when wet.

RATINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Samsung Galaxy S7 is one of the best if not the best smartphone in the industry right now. With features like the 4GB RAM, 32/64GB internal storage that can be expanded to 200GB using a micro SD memory card, trendy and stylish, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, etc obviously has made it stand out from others. But on the cost perspective I would say it is very expensive but it is sure the price will surely come down considerably with time. The Samsung Galaxy S7 has an amazing 8/10 from us on our rate scale, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who can afford it, it is a joy to behold!
